At Velux we chose a course at move2x for several reasons. One of the main reasons is the work we’re doing on a closer link between LEAN and digitalization with Henrik Saaby, Industrial PhD at Aalborg University.
In the context of understanding and implementing Industry 4.0, we need to test different technologies and learning aspects.
DigitizationIS CRUCIAL
Digitalization is a major factor in our business. Without knowing about move2x, the game or the concept, we decided to include the entire management team. Our expectations for the day were that we would familiarize ourselves with various digital technologies and options and get to try them out. We expected that the experience would serve as a springboard for our getting the process going.

And since our group reflected a range of skillsets, it wasn’t just a question of the technologies themselves – but how to apply them in a collaborative way.
BAD HABITSAND CLASSIC PITFALLS
We started out with a straightforward, thorough introduction where we all had the opportunity to get acquainted with the game’s scenarios. In the game’s mockup factory, we were guided with a balance of information and explanation.
And yet we had the sense of ‘just’ being thrown into it relatively quickly, which was oddly instructive. Obviously, it’s part of the game to expose us to pressure situations, catch our bad habits and allow us to experience classic pitfalls – all with a focus of learning by doing.
WHERE DIDWE LEARNWE THE MOST?
The game was paused with brief timeouts for evaluating our actions and reactions. These timeouts actually took the least amount of time – but they were undoubtedly where we learned the most. Being put in different challenging situations and having to pursue different goals along the way, plus the informative timeouts, all created the perfect learning blend.
WORKING TOGETHERTowards a common goal
As a team, we thought of ourselves as a small company working towards a common goal while being presented with both obstacles and new tools.
“This day showed us the necessity of everything being connected.”
We were motivated to utilize each other’s skills and to explore how to optimize our interactions. Velux is a large company where each individual is at risk of disappearing into the system – but this day showed us the necessity of everything being connected and everyone fulfilling their role optimally for a successful outcome.

After our game and our day together
we now have
a common frame of reference for understanding
Industry 4.0 and inspiration
for specific evaluation tools.
Digitalization is an extremely important aspect of our day-to-day lives,
and move2x – true to its name – taught us how to move from A to B.
All the participants gave only positive feedback about the day.
